Happy 20th Anniversary LYNX Central Station
The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) will be hosting a Cosmic Carnival style celebration for the 20th anniversary of LYNX Central Station (LCS) Nov. 19. This day will mark 20 years since the home for Central Florida public transportation opened in downtown Orlando.
The day’s festivities will include tasty treats, fun games and amazing prizes in the LCS courtyard area throughout the day 9 a.m.-4 p.m. A special thank you to Metro Diner for their participation.
Currently LCS has been going through a beautification renovation with fresh paint, new lights, landscaping improvements and remodeling/expansion of the customer bathrooms.
Since opening LCS in 2004, the number of buses in the LYNX fleet has increased from 230 to more than 300. Built for $26.7 million, the location of LCS was strategically selected to allow for expansion including additional routes, bus rapid transit (LYMMO) and commuter rail (SunRail). Today, LCS has more than18,000 boardings and alightings each weekday.
