LYNX Operator and Maintenance Team Named Best in State at Florida Triple Crown Bus Roadeo

May 2, 2018

We won our second consecutive Grand Champion award at the 2018 Florida Public Transportation Association Triple Crown Bus Roadeo. For the fifth consecutive year the LYNX maintenance team of Chris Balroop, Harryram Mootoo and Radu Solomon won the state maintenance team championship.

The maintenance squad also won awards for their assessments in electronic controls and air brakes.

Combined with operator Steve Kalicharan’s fourth place finish this is the 11th Grand Champion award for LYNX. Kalicharan won first place in bus pre-trip inspection.

ACCESS LYNX operator Rhoda Scott finished fourth in her division. Angel Melendez, ACCESS LYNX maintenance technician, won the paratransit bus inspection score and third place in the paratransit maintenance division.

Team LYNX, comprised of Balroop, Kalicharan, Mootoo and Solomon, will compete this weekend at the American Public Transportation Association International Roadeo in Tampa, Fla. The maintenance team has won this international award in 2006, 2010 and 2016.

During a roadeo operators and maintenance teams are put through physical and mental challenges testing their everyday workplace skills. This past weekend’s training exercise sponsored by the Florida Department of Transportation and the Florida Public Transportation Association was held at Votran in Daytona Beach, Fla.
