LYNX to Participate in FDOT Mobility Week

The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) will join the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in its Mobility Week Oct. 25-Nov. 1.

The agency will host or support events throughout the week highlighting FDOT’s grassroots effort to promote awareness of safe and sustainable transportation choices.

Beginning the week on Oct. 25, LYNX employees will participate in the annual City of Orlando Mayor Dyer’s Bike to Work Day.

On Oct. 30 the agency will host a “Train the Trainer” event as part of the refreshed Travel Training Program. This particular workshop has been developed for transportation or lifestyle coordinators at senior living facilities. The hands-on workshop will include a presentation, trip planning exercises and an applied experience on a LYNX bus and SunRail train.  This invitation only event will be 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the LYNX Central Station (LCS) 2nd floor meeting space.

“Train the Trainer” program benefits will include a Trainer ID for up to two people per organization. This ID will allow the trainer to use the LYNX bus system for free to train customers. Trainers also will be provided with All-Day LYNX bus passes for customers to learn the system. The goal is provide independence and access, increased confidence and improved wellness and socialization for riders. 

The annual Florida Department of Transportation Multimodal Workshop will be 1-3:30 p.m. Oct. 31 in the LCS open space. This year’s topic will be how technology is changing travel habits and patterns for customers.
