DETAILS: The Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) along with Osceola County and the community of Poinciana are ready to officially open the newly expanded bus transfer center at the Poinciana Walmart.
Construction began in late summer and will be completed within a week.
The project will expand the site from one bay to three and provide an additional 250 feet of safe transfer points for passengers.
To support the growing needs of southern Osceola County, the enhanced facility will now be able to hold three 40-foot buses and a NeighborLink vehicle. Additionally a total of six new bus shelters with solar panels were installed as well as solar powered Big Belly trash compactors.
A $240,000 Federal Transit Administration grant and agreements with Avatar Properties and Walmart have funded the expansion.
