Happy 10th Anniversary LYNX Central Station

LYNX will be hosting a community-wide celebration for the 10th anniversary of LYNX Central Station (LCS) Nov. 19. This day will mark 10 years since the home for Central Florida public transportation opened in downtown Orlando.

The day's festivities will include food carts, games, prizes and live entertainment in the LCS courtyard 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Community partners joining in on the fun will be the Orlando Downtown Development Board, Best Foot Forward, MetroPlan Orlando, SunRail, reThink, the Orlando Magic and the Orlando City Soccer Club.  Evan Taylor Jones will be the musical guest.

Since 2004, the agency's ridership has grown by more than 6.5 million to 30.1 million annual passenger trips (another ridership record).  When LCS opened 34 routes served the station which is the same number of routes serving it today. The number of buses has increased from 230 to more than 300. Built for $26.7 million, the location of LCS was strategically selected to allow for expansion including additional routes, bus rapid transit (LYMMO) and commuter rail (SunRail).
