The LYNX Communications team fared extremely well at the 2009 FPTA Annual Conference going four for four with “Awards of Excellence” which is the highest honor handed out and a “Best of the Best” award. Each award winning design was created by LYNX’ creative staff.
The Sustaining Campaigns category focused on environmentally conscious commuters. Transit is a natural ally for the Green Movement and this campaign demonstrated an environment friendly message “Every day is an Earth Day.” This design also earned the “Best of the Best Award.”
LYNX’ print advertising campaign named “Envision Your Ride” focused on people imagining a calm, comfortable commute to work as opposed to a stressful, rush-hour situation. The picture is of a cup of coffee creating a relaxed mood and the LYNX bus logo inside the cup allowing the viewer to envision what a satisfying commute might look like.
LYNX also won for its internal/external communications with a campaign highlighting the agency being the first transit system in the country to use the Zimek Disinfecting System. The ad showcased the safety precautions LYNX was taking at the height of the H1N1 flu virus outbreak. This poster had the look of a movie marquee.
The 2009 Public Service Bus design won in the Bus Exterior category. The theme and artwork – Vital Threads that Form the Fabric of the Community – celebrates their contribution to Central Florida. To be eligible for the free advertising, the organization must serve Orange, Osceola or Seminole county, show proof of 501 (c)(3) status or be a governmental agency with an annual operating budget of less than $1 million. The 2009 winners are COMPACT, the Adult Literacy League, Central Florida Black Nurses Association, The HOPE Foundation, Rotary Club of Kissimmee, Heavenly Hoofs, Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center and the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Florida. To date six of the eight winners have used the bus as a centerpiece display at their major fundraising events. They receive exposure they can not afford to buy and LYNX has an opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to the community.
