LYNX CarPool

Recent studies predict that daily traffic congestion would decrease by 20 percent if everyone carpooled for just one day a week. However, setting up a carpool can be difficult. That's why LYNX provides a FREE carpool/vanpool matching service for residents living in Orange, Osceola, Seminole and surrounding counties.

How the Process Works

First, you fill out an application. Once LYNX has received your application, we will mail you a match list with the names of other commuters who wish to carpool. It is up to you to call the names on the list and make the connection.

We'll continue to update your file and run as many lists as you want, absolutely free! Your personal information is kept confidential at all times. Any commuter registered with us that lives within five miles of you and works within one mile will be included on your match list. We can customize your preferences to include work flexibility, riding only, driving only or sharing driving.

Make Your Carpool a Success

After you agree to a match, arrange to meet your match to discuss the possibility of ridesharing and your commute. Work out all the details such as driver and rider responsibilities as well as personal preferences like playing the radio, eating or running the air-conditioning. Some additional tips:

Agree to participate for a trial period; evaluate the situation as you go.
Devise and agree on the pool's rules right from the start.
If a conflict arises, take a vote and abide graciously by the results

Be sure to check with your automobile insurance carrier to learn more about the benefits of carpooling. In many instances, your insurance premiums will be lowered!

Park & Ride

Save time, money and reduce the daily stress of commuting to work by parking your car for free at a LYNX/FDOT Park & Ride lot.
